Rotary Club of Chariho
Congratulations to this year’s recipients of the Rotary Club of Chariho Memorial Scholarships.  These scholarships are awarded based on the student’s demonstration of community service.  Students from Chariho and Exeter West-Greenwich High Schools received college scholarships for their College Freshman year during a special evening ceremony at Richmond Country Club during a recent Rotary Club Meeting on July 9th.  Along with the 4 High School Seniors receiving awards, there were 12 additional recipients of The Rotary Club of Chariho Memorial Scholarships for renewals as they enter into their sophomore, junior and senior years at their respective colleges.

The Rotary Club of Chariho has been providing scholarship awards since its inception.  It has provided over $446,000 in awards since 2004.  These funds come from the Club’s Fund-Raising Activities, in particular, it’s annual Golf Tournament, it’s Strawberry Shortcake Booth at the Washington County Fair, it’s annual Gala, and a number of other small fund raisers and memorial donations.  The Chariho Rotary is extremely grateful to our community for its outstanding support of its efforts to provide assistance to these very deserving students.

“Getting to meet these students at our awards dinner is always one of the high points of the year for Chariho Rotary,” Club President David Henley said. “A lot of people tend to talk down about the younger generations and worry about what the future holds, but I can tell you from meeting this group, we’re in good hands.”
